Chimney & Fireplaces/Chimney capping

Question
Hi
I need to cap my chimneys and i am not sure what sort of cap to use, and
what ventilation. I have a victorian terraced house with 6 chimney pots, i
presume for the 3 fireplaces upstairs and 3 fireplaces downstairs.
Downstairs, Only one fire is still used as an open fire , one is blocked with a
vent in it. The other, the chimney has been removed on the ground floor,
replaced with steels and boarded up with no vent. (not sure if need vent as it
would have to be be in ceiling if did). The three fireplaces upstairs still remain
in the rooms, but are not used and all have a top plate (part of the fire) which
stays closed.
I have looked on the internet, and am considering using c-caps for all unused
pots and just a bird guard on the one in use(i have had a few problems with
birds).
Can you make any recommendations on caps and ventilation for all my
chimney pots.
Thank you
Rebecca
