Question
I copied this email address from "experts" website. You seem to answer some questions regarding a firepit on a screen porch, but I did not see an answer. We have a similar problem on an existing structure, no screens, but open on sides.

We have a client with a 4'x5' fire pit on a terrace area. They desire the space to be covered with a roof, and maintain the 360 degree openness of the firepit. Is there criteria for design of a hood (fairly high above the pit for openness) the chimney, and provisions for induced chimney fan to prohibit smoke from staying under the open roof.

Any input would be helpful, thank you.

Hi Kevin,

Sorry about the delay in answering you, we were off for a few days and I just got back to my email.

Usually to do a project of this nature you have to go to a three-phase electrical to power the fan.

Typical cost on a project of this nature can be $15k to $20k + architectural design work.
