Question
I am planning to install glass doors on my fireplace.  My problem is that the damper control knob comes out inside the area the doors are affixed.  I found a model where the rod lines up with the inside edge of the frame of the door.  I plan to drill a hole in the frame,  but I need to lengthen the rod.  Are extensions available?

Hi Mike,

There should be a set screw on that rod in the threaded/screw area by the valve plate area.

Loosen the set screw and the rod should pull right out.

Go to a hardware store and you should be able to find the appropriate size of rod.  Cut it to length and reverse the process and you should be in business.
