Question
I have a 300sf sunroom and would like to augment my heat in the winter with a vent free propane gas fireplace.  What size BTU is recommended and are they really vent-free?

Answer
Hi Jerry,

For that small of an area, nearly any unit available should do the trick.

I would recommend you check with a local specialty hearth retailer that sells this type of unit.  Typically, they will have a person on staff that can walk you through the pros and cons of these units.

While most states allow installation of vent-free gas heating appliances, a handful of states still prohibit residential use. Because counties and municipalities may adopt different codes than state agencies, please check with your local code officials to determine the current code in the city where you plan to install the appliance.
