Chimney & Fireplaces/best type of heating flue liner?

Question
i have a 1920's home with a (not new) gas furnace.  the heating flue
was recently lined with an aluminum liner.  i have been told by
another more reputable chimney company that this liner should be
stainless steel, not aluminum.  is this true, or is aluminum
acceptable?  also, what about down the road when we will upgrade
the furnace to a more efficient, newer one?  would the aluminum
liner still be acceptable?

thanks in advance for your help,
emilie

Answer
Hi Emilie,

Although aluminum is an acceptable product for use in the application, stainless steel is a much higher quality product and will typically outlast aluminum in this application.

Thanks for using AllExperts.Com and good luck with your project.
