Question
Hello - We plan to replace our laminate flooring this winter.  Would there be any reason not to burn the old laminate flooring in a natural wood fireplace (not a free standing stove).  We're not sure if there is anything in the laminate that could cause a less than favourable reaction.  Or perhaps it could be burnt along with the usual pine and poplar?  Thanks for your time - it's much appreciated.  --  Regards, Connie

Hi Connie,

Don't burn treated, stained or finished lumber in your fireplace.  Since the laminate flooring is at least one of these, the answer is no, don't use it.  Properly dispose of it. There are many toxins released when burning treated, stained or finished lumber.
