Question
i have a cape style home with a walk out basement...i am planning to put a wood stove in the basement to help heat my home, and enjoy burning some wood too...what are my chimney install options?  i have 3 feet of exposed foundation (above grade, and all exposed in the back of the home)..I assume I will need to cut thru the foundation wall to vent the chimney..do i need to run the chimney to above my roofline?

Hi Jon,

The chimney must extend 2' above anything within 10'.

Keep it as straight as possible for better draft and flow.

You can go out the sidewall and up or straight up through the house.

Any exposed piping inside the living area must be framed in and covered to prevent it from being touched.
