Chimney & Fireplaces/How to choose

Question
Randy - we are building a home in SW Colorado. Bedroom will have a gas fp and great planned for wood. We are very budget conscious and are getting the run around on brands. For the money and considering quality, what brand would you choose between: Lennox, Heatilator and Extrodinair? I appreciate your help - we are stumped!

Answer
Pat,

The extrodinair is a high efficiency wood-burning fireplace and a good one at that, Regency's "Warmhearth" is another. The two other manufactures produce a large amount of hearth appliances for wood or gas. My advice is to invest in efficiency in all locations. If its a gas fireplace you want, I would recommend it be direct vent and at least 75% efficient. Make sure these units are installed by pro's, Good luck.
