Question
Hi Bart, I just roughed in a Firerock outdoor fireplace kit about a week ago which will finish out in cobblestone as time allows. Today I installed the firebrick using refractive mortar and a 1/4" x 1/4" notched trowel. I laid the splits with 1/16th inch to 1/8th inch joints. How long should I wait to build a fire? The weather here is turning colder now with nightime temperatures near the freezing mark. Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,

You should be able to start the first fire in 7-10 days on that firebox.

Build small fires for the first few fires to cure the refractory mortar, then you should be ready to go.
