Question
Hi, We have just purchased a 25 yr old home with a 13 foot tall rock fireplace.  The rock is dark and very rough in texture. We would like to give it a makeover without going into deep into expenses. It was suggested that we cover it with dry wall.  I was wondering if we could just cover the rock with a plaster and create a kiva look. I would appreciate your recommendations with safety and durability in mind.  Thank you.

Use metal lathe and plaster or mortar to create your kiva look.
