Question
I just had a Heatilator caliber fireplace `installed. It throws good heat but there ais a crackling sounf now and then from the steel sides. If I put in the brick refractory accessory will this eliminate the cracking sound of the steel. thanks

John,

Your fireplace is most likely heating up and the metal is expanding and contracting. This is normal for both wood and gas appliances. Its possible that the accessory refractory panels may help but not eliminate the sound on start up and cool down. if you are constantly hearing this noise, contact the manufacture. Good luck.
