Question
we have an old chimmney that extends inside the house made of fieldstone and cement with a liner inside the is a exhause pipe above a cleanout below. we have water which seems to be coming out of one of the rocks inside the house, not the roof but out of one of the rocks itseld dripping on the floor, can old masonary chimmneys absorb water and leach it through to the inside like this i have sealed the crown with new cement and have tarred all around the roof? should a sealant be senought? thanks

If your chimney crown is sealed properly and you have a spark arrestor cap that prevents water entry down the flue, then certainly water canstill sacharate the stone exterior and wick or leacg its way inside. Contract with a chimney sweep that provides this water proofing service. www.csia.org is the place to conduct this search. Good luck.
