I recently bought a home without a fireplace.  My question is:  if I
want to build a new gas fireplace, do I need to install a chimney?


Answer
Hi Anne,

If you install a Direct-Vent Gas Fireplace, it can be vented out the side of the house and you will not need a "chimney".
