Question
I have prefab chimney and 3-4 feet smoke stack on a top. Smoke stack is held by two screws but they do not hold for a long period of time. From wind smoke stack is about 15 degree angle I need more secure way to hold smoke stack to the chimney. Is this something can be repaired and what kind of contractor do I look for to repair this? I can actually see how smoke stack moves from high wind and I am afraid that It will fall down. How far smokestack is inside of a chimney and can it actually fall down?

Answer
Hi Elaine,

Your poor rating of my previous answer was uncalled for and insulting.  I gave you the exact place to go to get the chimney fixed if you would take the time to re-read my reply.

You have a problem that has at least 10 possible solutions.  If I gave you the wrong one, it could be very dangerous.

Please read my answers to your questions you've posed above, immediately below.

Yes, this can be repaired.  The contractor you need is a CSIA CERTIFIED CHIMNEY SWEEP!

If the smoke stack is moving, you need to get it fixed and this contractor will be able to tell you exactly how to fix it with your particular situation.

I have no idea how far your smokestack goes down inside your chimney and yes it can actually fall down.

Again, I recommend you contact a local CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep to do some on-site diagnosis of your problem and offer some specific recommendations.

You can find a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep at www.csia.org.

Thanks for using AllExperts.Com and good luck with your project.

Sincerely,
