Question
Hi.  I got a question I get different answers on.  I want to put a majestic factory built woodburning fireplace in my living room.  I want to run the (sk8) pipe out the wall at 30 degrees and then run straight up the outside of the house.  My concern is with the firestop.  The specs state you need one for the ceilings and it clearly states that a firestop is not needed through verticle walls.  Is this something I should be concerned with?  any help is appreciated.

You must provide a chase inclosure for your installation. I'm guessing that you have a second floor above the desired location and and that is the reason for breaching the vertical wall? You will need to provide an effective barrier, firestop at the floor ceiling line of both the first and second floor. The reason for the chase inclosure is to help insulate the chimney pipe. The amount of vertical run exposed to the cold temps outside will have a negative effect on the performance of your fireplace. You should also consult with the tech department of Majestic fireplace and the installation instructions provided if you have any questions on the installation of this product. Good luck.
