Hi Jay, I've been searching the intenet but can't find any clear info on how
to/how much to get from Hong Kong to Berlin by either coach or train.
Basically i'm looking for something cheap and am keen to see a LOT of the
countryside which is why i'm avoiding flying.  Can you recommend anything?

Honestly, the cheapest way would be to fly.  I know you are looking at seeing the country side so maybe you could take the train to Beijing and then fly to Germany.  The only problem with that is, it is a 24 hour ride so for half the ride you would not see much country side.  If you were looking at catching a train the best option would be to take the train to Beijing and then a train to Russia and then to Germany.  The only problem is the train to Russia would be very expensive.  I'm not even going to recommend coach.  It is too dangerous with all the mountains and countries you would have to go through.
