I am an American nurse and have a wonderful co-worker that is from Taiwan. She has lived in the US for about three years and is very home sick. Her birthday is on September 1 and we want to have a celebration but are not sure of any traditional things to do. Please help.

Hi Mary, it's very nice of you to thing of giving your friend a homy celebration. Traditionally we eat stewed Pork Knuckle with very fine chinese noodle, plus one poached egg. Otherwise, one birthday cake would be hearty enough !
