China & Hong Kong/payment by Chinese client to US recipient

Question
We are a small product design/development company based in NH and are about to enter into a contract with a Beijing based footwear company.  They have stated that they do not have a Hong Kong subsidiary and do not know how to pay us.  In past dealings with other Chinese clients we have always received funds wired to us in US dollars through the client's subsidiary in Hong Kong.  How can we receive payment directly from a Chinese company?

Answer
Hi Cynthia,

Like any other bank, the Chinese company's bank in China (Beijing) should be able to make an international wire transfer.  Although it's more cumbersome and the company may be required to provide seemingly useless paperwork etc., they should be able to make the transfer.  It's a million times easier to do from a HK account as you have seen before.

The company you are working with needs to go to their bank in China and find out how to make an international wire transfer.  And then let you know what they find.

Other options are:
1. Open a paypal account and invoice them through that (they will need a mastercard/visa to make payment).

Good Luck
