China & Hong Kong/TRAINS IN CHINA

Question
A Chinese travel agent has quoted a charge of USD240 for two return train tickets form Hong Kong to Guangzhou.  This sounds VERY expensive - is rail travel that expensive?
Thanks in advance

Answer
No, trains should be much cheaper. However, you may have to take a train to Shenzhen and then change for a train to Guangzhou.

Search for "train schedules china" using your favorite search engine and you should get some more information on prices and timings.

I got this one - http://www.chinaknowledge.com/train/default.aspx

But I'm sure there are others and then double check with a tour agent.

Hope this information helps.

Safe travels,
