Question
Hi Nilesh!
I am going to Beijing tomorrow, 29 October and leaving for Manila on the 1st of November. I am working on a very limited budget, but i'd like to be able to see the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiannamen Square, and the Teracotta Soldiers. Would you be able to suggest how i can plan my stay in Beijing? I am fond of walking and public transportations too.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you very much.

Answer
Hello,

There are many tour operators in Beijing who will organise tours for you. It is very difficult to travel on your own in China becuase of the problem of communicating English.

The best way to get around would be to purchase a good travel book on Beijing/China - Lonely Planet is recommended but Lets Go, Rough Guide or Foddors should be equally OK. Look in your nearest book store before departing for China.

You can check in to a budget hotel in Beijing. Search the web or you can enquire at the tourist bureau desk on arrival in Beijing. They should also be able to help you with your tours.

Hope you have a good time and my information helps.

Ciao and take care. Have a safe and enjoyable trip in China. I was in Beijing all of last week but it was a business trip and I was confined very much to the hotel and office. Enjoy the great Chinese food.

Nilesh.
