I am a mother of 3 kids age 4,9, 12.

Is it advisable to bring my children to tibet on our own instead of package tour this November, 2005?

Is it safe enough in term of food and high altitute presure for children to travel in tibet?

I think its a very personal decision and I am not used to answering such questions. Normally I answer questions about the location, what to see, how to get there, etc.

But let me try to answer in very general terms. Travel is always a good experience for children - whether its part of a package tour or individual travel on your own. Just remember that November will be very cold in Tibet and I am not sure your children are used to such low temperatures at home. In terms of food and high altitude you should not have any problems. Lhasa has a HOLIDAY INN with all the modern amenities of a star hotel.
