Question
Hi - I've done some research online, but I was hoping to make sure that I understand the meaning of the following Chinese characters before I use them. Would you mind translating them for me? Also, these are Mandarin right? And simplified characters?

One more thing...what exactly does hanzi mean?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi there, Josh.

generally speaking:
魂 means ghost, spirit or soul
力 means power, force or strength
天 means sky, heaven, or day
速 means speed or fast

I can't really tell if they are simplified characters or traditional, because the two sets still share a lot of characters in common and these four fall into this category.

Talking about Mandarin(or Cantonese), you can't tell them apart by single characters. One beautiful thing about Chinese is that even there are thousands of dialects(some of which are so differently pronounced that oral communication seems impossible), the written language(characters) is universal. The same vocabulary, phrases and grammar are used in formal written articles, though slangs can be used in casual writings which may not be understood by people living in other areas.

Hanzi literally means "Han Character", meaning the characters used by the ethnic group of Han, who has a population of about 1.3 billion.

Well, I hope I might help. And you're welcome anytime.
