QUESTION: I have an asian ceramic piece that I would like to date. There are three characters on the bottom. I have pictures. Just trying to find out who made it and how long ago. The piece has been in my family at least 25 years.

ANSWER: Hi Denise,

Could you please submit another jpg with higher resolution and closer image of the characters?  Also, having a picture of the jar upright would also help.  I'll see what I can do.  Thanks.

Nicola

QUESTION: Here is another photo.

Answer
Hi Denise,

Really sorry, but I really can't make out the characters at the bottom therefore cannot determine what the marking means. Based on the silhouette of the characters, they could be Chinese or Japanese (some written characters are shared between these two languages).  It's a beautiful jar, good luck with your search for it's origin.

Sincerely,

Nicola
