Chinese Cuisine - blue/green tinted egg drop soup

Expert: Louis M. Wu - 9/30/2009

Question
my local restaurant serves egg drop soup which is usually yellow and very good. However the last few times I ordered it the eggs, not the broth had a bluish/greenish tint.  My friend who dined with me said it's ok to eat. Within a few hours, I was sick. This was the only thing I had eaten in 12 hours.  Is the color a sign of the soup being bad?

Answer
