Answer
Enid,

Please go directly to your orthopedic doctor to check this out.  You simply may have some bursitis along with a mildly arthritic hip.  Bursitis often will give you aching pain at night - but so will cancer to the bone.  You could also have an arthritic spinal joint causing nerve irritation, or sciatica, that is referring the pain into your buttock and calf.  Only with a live physical examination (and maybe an xray of your hip and lower back) can these conditions be assessed and ruled out.   So my best advice is to get a check up for this.    If it's simpy some bursitis, then you can get it treated by the orthopedist by cortisone injection, or by a chiropractor using different modalities, e.g. ultrasound and soft tissue massage.  If the problem is arthritic joints and sciatica, that is a bit more involved and may require the chiropractor and a PT working in tandem to help resolve the issue.  Hopefully you don't have anything worse...  I hope this helps.
