Question
This is really the first time I have ever had serious back pain. On my left side middle of my back  have mild to serious pain. Its a deep throbbing pain and whenever I take deep breaths it really hurts. I did go to the doc and she prescribed muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatory but they don't seem to work. I have never been to a chiropractor but I willing to try anything...any suggestions?

Answer
Dear First Timer,

Chiropractic care is absolutely a safe and effective choice for all kinds of back pain.  This is one of the the main focuses of chiropractic.

You most likely have strained the middle back and possibly altered the relationship between the rib and vertebra interface.  This can be extremely painful, especially with deep breathing which expands the chest cavity and further irritates the joint space and surrounding capsule.  this is often accompanied by muscle spasm in that area, and compensation at the adjacent vertebral segments.  All this leads to dysfunction and pain.

I obviously recommend you giving chiropractic a try, but also recommend that you visit my website and read over some of the information such as what to expect on your first visit, education and training, etc...  You can learn a lot about chiropractic before you start calling offices, and don't worry, I don't sell anything on my website, just free information.

Good Luck First Timer.

Respectfully,
