Chiropractors/Sprained Rib

Question
9 days ago after my physical conditioning class, i felt a disconfort on my left side of my rib cage. I had pain when i tryed to breath, laugh, or cry. I noticed that my left rib was stickin out and the area below it was swollen. I went to the doctor and he prescribed some medicine for the pain and the swelling. Now I dont have much pain, only a little bit in the morning. But I rest as much as possible and lay on my back. Is there a possibility that my rib will go back into place by itself?

Answer
Karla,

Yes, if it's simply a rib joint strain, odds are that it will reduce, but any lingering pain beyond another week or two is a sign that there is residual joint dysfunction or soft tissue adhesion/congenstion.  If this is the case, you could find fast and lasting relief with chiropractic joint manipulation and some manual soft tissue work.  Most people that are familiar with the manual methods that chiropractors emply would have been in the DC's office right away to have their spine and ribs adjusted.   In many cases there is immediate pain relief and fast resolve.   Consider this if you still have any symptoms over the next few days...

'Hope this was helpful.
