Question
I have stenosis in L3 and 3 bulging discs-L 2,3,4. Also arthritis. I tried a chiropractor for 6 visits and always left feeling worse when I left, with allful leg pain and could not stand up straight. It was not the treatment, but getting on and off the tables, causing sharp "electric pains" in my legs. I've had a fusion in L 4 & 5. What's next-I'm having trouble functioning-another operation? Also, I have numbness in my feet. I'm exzhausted most of the time and hate feeling like an "old lady". I'm not!!

Answer
Sue,

I'm not sure what your chiropractic treatment entailed, e.g. side-posture joint manipulation or flexion-distraction or decompressiive manipulation, or some other set of methods.  Not all chiropractic treatment methods are the same - and not all chiropractors are the same.   Regardless, if the stenosis is bad enough, you're really going to have to obtain another consultation with spine surgeon to assess if it is to the point of needing surgery.  Otherwise, you have to consider getting an epidural steroid injection and continuing with various chiropractic or other conservative methods.  There's surely no magic cure for what you have.

'Good luck with this.
