Chiropractors/Right Rib Pain

Question
I have had this pain for about 8 months now but it has increased significantly in that amount of time.  The pain is located on my upper right rib and wraps around to my mid back.  It seems to be coming from the rib itself and there is quite a bit of swelling in that are, like a rib is sticking out and trying to break through my skin.  I would give anything to feel better as I can no longer handle this pain and it has made me feel paralized at the age of 26.  There seems to be swelling in the right rib but I have had many tests(MRI of spine, bone scan, x-rays, CT scan) and all show nothing really abnormal. It hurts so bad that I am constantly crying from the pain.  If I apply ice to it, it seems to be the most helpful but the pain is still there and is very unbearable.  The only thing that I can think of that could have caused this was when I was holding the dog on his leash and he jerked my arm really hard. I felt a snap when that happened and really bad pain. It has gradually become much worse.  It doesnt really hurt when you tuch the area, it just feels sore but I can point to the exact location of where the pain is coming from.  It also seems to help if I walk for a bit.  It hurts terribly to lay down or sit up.

Thanks,
Jessica Ruggiero

Answer
You may have a slight dislocation in that area, and with constant use, swelling accompanying it.  I would have a good chiropractor check it out, and if possible, therapies as necessary (ultrasound and low level laser are the 2 I would recommend the most).
