Question
I am 38 and have been experiencing numbness in my fingertips in both hands...they also feel hard to move around as if i had them in one place for a long time...is this more arthritic or could it be from the spine?..I have scoliosis,...but also a line of women before me with reumetory arthritis...

Answer
Theresa,

This could be from the spine as well as from the area in front of the neck called the thoracic outlet.  If you have a family history of rheumatoid arthritis, then you should see about getting a blood test for it.  If you see a DC, a good physical exam can help determine if your numbness is coming from your cervical spine, the thoracic outlet, or from other areas such as the carpal tunnels of the wrists.  Unless you have a significant scoliosis, it's doubtful that's the cause of the numbness.

'Hope this helps.
