Question
I have had episodes at night where I am awaken by a pdain in my left thigh that feels like I have been shot or electricuted.  The burning and pain is so intense I can do nothing but scream and run around the house.  This is always followed by numbness in my thigh.  The numbness has progressed throughout the day and continues for hours at a time.  My hips seems to be very sore as well.  I have had xrays that have shown no problem.  Do you have any ideas as to what may be causing this extreme pain and burning?  Thanks so much for your help with this!

Answer
Pain such as this is most likely from nerve irritation.  Since you have had x-rays, I would assume you have seen a family doctor to rule out any medical problems.  I would suggest you see a good chiropractor.  If you have misalignment it can cause irritation of the nerve, or can cause muscles to tighten leading to other types of pain.
