Question
On September 30th I hit my elbow on a door hinge(hard), and that night my right hand and lower arm went numb. I sought treatment in the ER the next morning and was told I had pinched my ulna nerve. The following Monday I saw a orthopaedic doctor and he said I had torn my tricep. I have been in a splint since October 9th after tearing a second portion(inner portion of my arm) of my tricep. I am wondering if there are any tests that can be done to aid in my treatment? I am currently in physical therapy to wean out of the splint, but it hasn't helped. I have a stabbing pain in my elbow and I don't know what else to do. How long to tricep injuries and ulna nerve pinches take to heal and especially together? Thanks for any information you can give!

Answer
At this point there are no tests that  will give you any more helpful information. An MRI could possible confirm the diagnosis but  I dont think its necessary at this point. You should incorporate some soft tissue therapy into your treatment, its important to reduce scar tissue as soon as possible. Its difficult to give you a prognosis without having examined you myself. I dont know the degree of the tear or exactly where your ulnar nerve is being impinged. Laser Therapy is also a good treatment, it's non-invasive and can help with scar tissue formation.
