Expert: Dr Ron Grassi,DC.,MS.,ACFEI. - 11/3/2009
Question Dr Grassi,
My left front leg from my hip bone to my shin, around to my buttock and down to my left foot has had patches of numbness for a week now. It seems to be lessening very slowly, and the "pins and needles" I felt the first few days are subsiding. Is there anything I could be doing to help heal quicker? Do you have any suggestions for stretches or meds? Thank you so much for your help. I am a bit of a hypochondriac and am looking forward to some answers that I'm sure are less scary than those I have for myself.
Answer
Hi Gabrielle: It would be prudent to go to your GP,MD. He will get Lab work: >#1. CBC w/diff,SMAC,UA & CRP,ESR,Thyroid Panal.< This will identify any "obvious" abnormalities. If normal BUT, problem persists,#2. Lumbar MRI & Lower Extremity EMG. For that, go to a Neurologist. This will keep you busy for a while. If all this comes back negative and you STILL have problem, write back. DO #1 NO MATTER WHAT .! Thank's. Dr Ron Grassi,DC.,MS. Jupiter, Florida. www.DrGrassi.com
