Question
leg is numb and when rubbed feels like sunburned  went to chiropractor and they said might take from 10 to 20 sessions  does this sound about right or a scam

Answer
Charles,

No, depending what your diagnosis is.   If you have sciatica, yes it can take that long.  Sciatica means that when you lay on your back and do a straight leg raise, then your leg (calf/shin) or foot symptoms become provoked, or they are provoked by sitting, straightening your knee, bending your head down, and then holding your breath.  Each of these tests, the "straight leg raise (SLR)" or "Sitting Root Test" are considered positive when leg symptoms are provoked.   If not, then you may not have sciatica at all.   If these tests are negative, then there may be other reasons for your symptoms.   If it is not sciatica or other affliction of the nerve that exits your lumbar spine, then the list of diagnostic possibilities needs to be made by your chiropractor and a treatment plan - with clearly defined outcome measures - must be made.  If you are showing no signs of change withing a hand-full of treatment sessions, then something is wrong.  The same is true if you were at a PT clinic.

'Hope this helps.
