Chiropractors/Muscle Stimulation

Question
Is muscle stimulation safe during pregnancy.  I have been going to the chiropractor for the past few weeks.  Each time before my treatment, they have me lie on the traction table with the roller that goes up and down my back and do muscle stimulation on my neck.

I just found out I am pregnant. Is muscle stimulation safe during pregnancy or do I need to stop?

Thank you.

Answer
Hello Kate,

During pregnancy electric muscle stimulation is contraindicated along with heat and many other therapies.  The traction table is safe early on when the therapy is comfortable as you gain weight during pregnancy you may want to avoid it.

Have a great day,
