Question
Hello,
I am a 23 yr. old female.I have been practicing yoga since a year and a half, 3 times a week.Even after all this time I have difficulty with back hyperextensions, although my forward bends are great.I only find myself able to push a short distance up from the floor without feeling a pinching sensation on my lower spine(more likely the lumbar region),although I manage to get all the way up by pushing harder. Is it likely I have been pushing too hard cause I feel stiffer the next day?And how can I can I get my back to relax and be more flexible at back bends? Just to add my life beyond the yoga class is basically sedentary, only activities including climbing up stairs a few times a day.
Thank you

Answer
I would suggest you see a chiropractor to make sure there are no mechanical hindrances to your extensions.  If you can find one that is sports oriented, all the better, as they may address any soft tissue components to your problem, and help with a good rehab program.
