Chiropractors/Neck Injury

Question
I saw a top American chiropractor 2 years ago. I had never been to a chiropractor before. He came to our clinic and did an adjustment on me that was so severe that I now have cronic neck pain. The adjustment was so loud that the whole office heard it, I thought he broke my neck. I have cronic neck grinding and have never had neck problems before he touched me. Should I have an xray to see if there is any damage as I am in a difficult situation as i was not aware he could not pratice in Australia even though I work for a chiropractor but I had only been there for 4 weeks when this happened to me. He was a guest speaker from America. Could he have done long term damage.

Answer
Caroline,

You should never have experienced this.  If you had a neck problem prior to the adjustment, then it's obvious that he caused your problem.  Was there a history taken?  Physical examination?  Or did he just go and do a high velocity manipulation?  This surely is not top chiropractor, as a top doc' would never have done this on you.  I surely would like to know who that was (quite curious, since I think I know who many the top doc's are).   So yes, he could have easily done long term damage.

Let me know.
