Chiropractors/Lumps on Neck and Scalp

Question
I work in an office where sometimes I sit in front of a computer all day. Lately I have been having really uncomfortable neck and upper back and shoulder pain/strain/tension(kinda feels like a a tight rubber band that ties my upper spine to my head/neck which makes good posture feel straining) I noticed that the part of my upper spine  seems to be protruding like the bone is almost growing separate from my neck(exaggerated when I bend my head forward). It also feels like there is a lump on my neck and I'm not sure if it's just a Really tight muscle but its been there for about 2 months now. When I touch my scalp I feel a lot of lumps, my mom says their from stress but I'm not really stressed and they are big lumps, sometimes my head hurts and I can feel the tension in these lumps and down to my shoulders.... Is this something a Chiropractor could help me with? Should I consult my Dr? What could it be?

Answer
Hello Silvia,

I am sorry to hear of your complaints.

Let me cut to the chase:
".....Should I consult my Dr? What could it be?....."- yes.

You should certainly be evaluated- whether by your family MD or your local family DC (doctor of chiropractic).

Perhaps you are developing 'lipomas'.  A lipoma is a fatty tumor.  Usually unimportant except for cosmetic reasons- these lumps/ bumps may be an accumulation of fat- a fatty tumor- a Lipoma.  Only a Doctor can be sure.

If these lumps/ bumps are something else??? Hmmmmmmm, without seeing you in person, I really could not hazard any other guess.

Yes see your MD or DC.

Either should recognize a Lipoma.  Either might send you to a dermatologist.

Could this be some kind of tension knot?- in your neck/ back perhaps yes,,,, or your scalp- probably no.  If it is a tension knot--- then the Doctor of Chiropractic would be a great place.

I hope my information helps.
