Chiropractors - Numb Fingers!

Expert: Dr. Paul Newhart - 6/15/2009

Question
My right hand...thimb, index and middle fingers are numb at all times. mostly the first half of the fingers to the tips.. I feel it slightly in my ring finger also. I can get no relief. What could this be....Carpal tunnel?? The more I use my hand the worse it gets even typing this email!.

Answer
Without a hands on exam, it is difficult to diagnose, but it sounds as if there is some type of repetitive motion disorder to the wrist, one of which is carpal tunnel syndrome.  I would suggest you find a chiropractor that deals with extremities, as this would be your best conservative route.  A chiropractor should be able to treat and rehab this condition and help you avoid an unnecessary surgery.
