Question
hi i have had numbness in my right hand and arm and have had pain, i have had an mri scan and it showed a slipped disc between the 7th cervical vertebrae and the first thoracic vertebrae, i have not had any injuries and would like to know if visiting a chiropractioner would be any benefit and things to avoid and possible causes of the trapped disc

Answer
The condition that you are describing is generally called a disc herniation, of which there are several varying types. From least severe to most severe, disc herniations are classified as protrusions, prolapses, and extrusions. Disc herniations may result from trauma, repetitive trauma, or degenerative processes.

Generally speaking, musculoskeletal-based chiropractors are well-trained to treat these conditions. Rarely, severe disc herniations may require surgical intervention when progressive neurological symptoms develop.

Based on your specific case, your practitioner should be able to advise you on things to do that will help enhance your recovery.
