I get numbness in my back and down my thight which may be related to my osteoarthritis of the knee. Will a chiropractor be able to help me with this back condition. Thank you.

Hello T.,

I’m sorry to hear about your pain.  It’s impossible for me to give you a tailored answer to your question without evaluating you myself.  However, I can say that your condition is the sort of thing that chiropractors see all of the time.  The most important thing to remember if you decide to see a chiropractor is to keep an open mind.  Not all chiropractors are the same.  It is a hands-on profession, so finding the right chiropractor that best works with your body and condition may take a diligent search effort on your part.  You should know within a few visits if the chiropractor is or is not going to get you relief.  Your pain may not be completely eliminated within a few visits, but if you do notice improvement in your symptoms, then that’s a good start and a sign that continued care will help your condition.  I would suggest to start with an orthopedic chiropractor first.  These chiropractors have extra post-graduate training focusing on orthopedics.  These chiropractors typically have the letters “FACO” or “DABCO” after the “D.C.”

I hope this helps answer your question.  Good luck!
