Chiropractors/tilted pelvis

Question

spine

Hello, I had x-rays taken of my lower back that show a tilted pelvis. I am a 41 year old male and have worked in the bridge construction field for 20 years. My pelvis has always been noticeably uneven as a kid and my mom would take me to  chiropractors with no real positive results. I am now having pain in my lower right back, it's not severe pain but very irritating when I bend forward. No pain while standing or sitting. My chiropractor tells me a 1/4" heal lift will fix the problem and my doctor tells me that a heal lift will only add stress to other parts of my back. Mechanically to me it makes sense to lift up the left side to even my hips out. I did put a lift in my left shoe, it's been a few days and I can feel pain already from my body trying to adjust, is this the right approach? I am a little discouraged, can you give me your opinion on the heal lift based on my x-rays.

Thank you, Joe

Answer
Yes and no.  To properly assess the degree of "unevenness", a leg length x-ray should be taken to determine 1.  Where it is short, and 2.  the amount of short.  For an example, I always have a right short leg and dropped pelvis on the right of 2-3 mm on x ray.  A leg length x ray shows that my actual shortness is on the LEFT by 1mm...the rest is compensation.  You are on the right path with the lift...I would suggest having a leg length x ray done to determine proper side and degree of shortness for the correct lift.
