Chiropractors/lower back

Question
I am an active 52 year old woman, have seen a chiropractor for at least 20 years now, and go in mostly for neck tension.  Lately my back started hurting, probly from working hard, along with stress, and I began doing yoga.  Now what I notice, and my friends don't have, is that my back seems tender and not strong at all.  Also my vertebra(I think they're called)  pop like crazy!!causing relief at times.  It could be that I'm not exercising enough also.  I find the popping relieving, but annoying.   Could you please give me your opinion on this?  Thank you very much!

Answer
Lucy,

Odds are you need soft tissue work across your lower back, glut's and hips.  If you are exercising too much and repetitively straining yourself, then you need a few days off to cross train, e.g. cardio only.  Avoid prolonged static stretching as this can make things worse.  See if your chiropractor is able to do Graston Technique (www.grastontechnique.com) or Active Release Technique (or both).   Popping sounds are one thing.   Pain/tenderness is another.

'Hope this helps,
