Question
What are the pros and cons of being treated by a chiropractor who uses this equipment?

Answer
Hello Eric,

Thank you for your question.

Perhaps other Doctors on this AllExpert Board could give you a better answer.  I am not very familiar with the 'ProAdjuster'.

As a Doctor of Chiropractic I have spent 30+ years trying to improve my manual palpation and treatment skills.  "Chiro - Practic" means "to perform by hand" or "To Do By Hand".

The ProAdjuster is a computerized, electronic, instrument adjustment device.  These devices use a sensor to check movement in a spinal segment, and after analysis, the machine may decide to treat the area with impulses delivered by that same device.

Some people prefer a device to adjust their spine, some people prefer a hands on approach.  Some people appreciate the Brain, mind and hands of the Doctor, some people prefer the machine adjustment.

I utilize my hands primarily in the treatment of the spine.  Initially when computerized electronic adjustment devices came out the cost was quite prohibitive- I have heard cost of device as high as $85,000.oo.  There are occasional machines available on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/PROADJUSTER-PRO-ADJUSTER-CHIROPRACTIC-THERAPY-SYSTEM-/280572... here is a used machine for US $8,995.00.

There was some type of lawsuit involved with the device:

I would recommend visiting these websites, perhaps visiting another Doctor on this AllExperts.  The information above is about what I know of the ProAdjuster, I tried to give the Pro and Con.

If your Doctor uses the ProAdjuster and you are happy,,,, stay!
If your Doctor uses his(her) hands and you are happy,,,, stay!

If you are looking for a Doctor in your area-- ask friends and neighbors for a referral to a good Doctor of Chiropractic in your area!

I wish you good luck, I am just not that knowledgeable on the ProAdjuster, and utilized the web- as you can see above....

Thanks for the question,
