Question
Having shoulder pain tried physio, coritsone injection did not work. MRI showed extensive tendiopathy, linear tear and bursitis.  This started about four months ago after starting a new job (data entry payroll for 4-6hrs/day). I have worked in an office environment for 10years prior doing accounts receivable with minimal data enty.  The office environment was about 25% ergonomic would this setting have irrated and caused my problem.  My normal hobbie is walking. Would all this repetion and not so ergonomic situation has caused this problem?

Answer
Hi Audrey,

You had the tendinopathy for a long time.  It doesn't happen overnight.  But changes in an ergonomic environment where you are doing repetitive motions can provoke it and cause it to be painful.  The tear is a problem, and sometimes this requires a surgical consultation.   Physio can mean anything.  Ice/heat/stim/massage all will do nothing to change your shoulder - in case that's what you've been getting.   Arthrtic changes to the shoulder also can provoke the shoulder condition.  Walking should make the shoulder feel better since your arms are in a downward position and not in an impinging position such as the position of brushing your hair or reaching forward.  Tendinopathy involves degenerative changes to the tendon, with infiltration of degenerative "crud."  If you haven't tried it, consider looking up a provider on this list: www.grastontechnique.com.

'Hope this was helpful.
