Expert: John Quackenbush DC - 9/30/2010
QuestionI fell at work 31 days ago. Since then I have had a chronic headache and pain in between my shoulder blades as well as lower back spasms. The work comp dr.s tried skelaxin and tramadol for the spasms but I had a bad reaction. I had really bad headache and was given naproxen. I have been referred to a PMRS who gave me my first trigger point injections today and diagnosed me with Myofascial Pain Syndrome. It still hurts and I still have a headache with nothing to relieve my pain? What can I do. Tylenol, ibuprophen, celebrex, naproxen...none of these work. Can I get sopme help?
AnswerChris,
I am not licensed to dispense medication and therefore I cannot tell you to take medication ortell you to stop your medication. If you are going to take medication you have to be under the direction of a medical doctor. If you donot like the outcome of his or her prescriptions then dicuss this with them. If you do not get a satisfactory answer then consider changing doctors.
I am licensed to tell you that from your description It is my opinion that you should seek an examination with a doctor of chiropractic to see if manipulation will help you. Also you could seek a chiropractor who is certified in manipulation Under Anesthesia. This is specific for your problem and should be covered under your insurance.
I hope this helps your decision making for your health concerns.
