Question
QUESTION: about 2 weeks ago I was turning around and my hip popped LOUD and I loss the use of my r leg for a few sec and fell to the floor, I went to er nothing was broken, heat, ice same old thing, but it's not getting better and the r hip and r side of my abomomen/pelvic area is sore and hurts and also hangs down an inch or more below the other side. what can I do. I'm in nursing school and dont need this right now. please help. thank you paula

ANSWER: Paula,
I will need to know more about your ER visit what was done xrays, MRI, Bllodwork? Not quite sure what you mean as hangs down an inch or more.Do you suspect a hernia when you say hangs down? What symptoms are you having now. Are they different? Worse or better or even slightly worse or slightly better? Does it hurt to cough. If you are in nursing school can't someone provide you with a physical exam. You absolutely need xrays of the hip as well as the pelvis and more than likely a MRI of the pelvis and hips STAT!

Please provide me this info and I may be able to guide you a little better than above but first and foremost you need medical attention in the form of a physical examination!!

QUESTION: no blood,or MRI. the swelling is still in my lower ab,(I'm a lg girl and my stomach hangs anyway, but the right side is a full inch or more down since this happened.but the pain is now radiating to the top of waist on the r side were not allowed to get (professional help)from our class mem. I see a NP, but do not have ins will she be able to help? thanks you for your help.

Answer
Paula Lee,
You can start with the NP but it is my opinion that you should have xrays and Mri studies done of your hip and abdomen. If you do not have insurance and your NP agrees w/ me and gives you a script you would then need to call all of the xray labs as well as Mri facilities and expalin your situation. Tell them you are student w/ no disposable income and you would like to know what thier lowest cash price is. Sometimes we hear MRI facilities do an mri for 400.00. But they usually want payment up front or at the time of service. You may be able to get payments though. Also it may seem odd but you may get a better deal on xrays at different facilities. In other words you might get a great cash price on MRI but not so w/ Xrays. So you need t check on both. Also toy should see if htere is any state assistance for you. Every little bit helps!! Plus this is not something that is avisable to ignore.

I hope this helps your decision making process.
