Chiropractors/bulging disc

QuestionI was diagnosed in January with a mild bulge in my left cervical spine. I had bad pain from my neck down my arm. Since then I've felt better but recently now the right side is giving me similar symptoms, not as bad but same general sensations minus numbness. Could this the the same bulge transferring to the other side?
AnswerJ,
Yes, it could very likely be the same bulged disc, but bulging on the other side. Also, if your disc was bulged straight back in the canal, it, combined with other factors such as arthritic bone spurs can cause pain either side of the neck and either arm. It is quite difficult to know for sure without physically examining you. It is quite possible that the right sided symptoms are coming from a disc or arthritic joint one level above or below the problematic disc level. Depending on your age, if there are significant degenerative changes to the spine, e.g. bulges, spurs, etc, there could be a variety of reasons for your symptoms. Assuming you are not a kid, and more likely someone in their 50's, the most likely scenario is that it is roughly going to be the same place in your neck that is the problem, give or take a level, e.g. if it was an arthritic C5 disc bulge on the left, and you have arthritic and bulging discs from C5 to C7, then it's possible your right sided symptoms are coming from C6 disc or the C5-6 joint.
'Hope this was helpful and not confusing...
