Chiropractors/Ankle injury

Question
Hi Doc, I twisted my right ankle last year during a soccer game and did not do much about the injury then. I re-twisted it 6 months later while running and this time went to a physiotherapist who suggested a few exercises and massages which did help for a while but the pain still remains now and has become worse. I cannot sit in one position for more than 10 minutes without moving my ankle or it tends to lock. I havent slept well for the past few months and always have to give my ankle a good 180 degree turn to get it out of the lock position. I can feel the pain through my whole right leg while I sleep and am concious about my ankle wheneevr I do anyhting. Would going to a Chiropractor help me?

Answer
Hello Helton,

You need to have a MRI performed on the ankle.  You may have torn ligaments or possible a bone/cartilage fragment floating in the joint.  This will cause locking of the ankle.  After the MRI a chiropractor can help align the bones of the foot and be more specific with soft tissue techniques that will help the ankle recover.

Have a great day,
