Question I am 39 years old, active and very healthy. About a year ago I had a bad fall down some bleacher about 8 feet in which I landed flat footed; My knees did not bend because the fall was unexpected. Therefore my hips took the blow.I had no problems until now.I have taken up running and have lost 50 lbs. in the last 8 months, but I keep injuring my left hip. I do feel its from the fall. My question is do you feel that a chiropractor could help me or should I let an orthopedist treat me. I am a dental hygienist and have always found the chiropractor to be so much help and fast relief.
Answer Elecia,
In this instance I don't feel either will be much help for the hip, this can definitely effect the rest of your wellbeing. Take Glucosamine sulfate or hydrochloride with MSM 3 grams/day, that;s 6 pills if they are 500mg each. This is the only thing proven to reverse osteoarthritis, which is inevitable in everyone, especially with previous trauma. Get some passive stretch exercises and mobilization to the hip at the Chiro's office and in a few months the cartilage in that hip as well as all the other articulations should be healthy.
Good Luck!
